Located by the church in the picturesque village of Rothley, The Woodies is perfect for a home cooked lunch, an after work drink or a nighttime get-together with friends.

It’s open fires, low beamed ceilings, contemporary outdoor areas and sprawling gardens offer the flexibility for a great experience with us no matter what the English weather throws our way.

Having moved from the “Rag Trade” in Manchester in 1985 our family relocated to Leicestershire and took our first pub – The Reservoir Inn, Cropston.

Having made some great friends and happy times our dad (Peter) identified The Woodman’s Stroke in Rothley as a hidden gem and we successfully purchased the freehold in 1991.
Our aim was to have a proper, old English pub, with hand drawn ales and nothing but good conversation for atmosphere.

Our aims remain the same to this day and our family looks forward to welcoming you and your family to our warm and friendly home.
